our story

nakhoda began in a corner of Linklaters' London banking practice in 2015, with the belief that the right combination of technology and legal expertise can fundamentally change how legal problems are solved - and in turn, make legal data a driver for value creation.

Our name, a Malay word of Persian origin meaning 'navigator', underscores our mission, in a landscape where marshalling complex data is an increasingly critical element for organisational success. It also supports Linklaters' position of global leadership and expertise in the legal sphere.

Working closely with lawyers within our firm's practices, nakhoda has gone on to build its own technological capabilities, proprietary algorithms and, most importantly, products that are at the forefront of legal tech.
