nakhoda

Intelligent design, seamless results. Simpler, faster, smarter.

about us

nakhoda is Linklaters' flagship technology platform. Fusing premium legal expertise and dynamic, leading-edge data science, we are uniquely built to help global corporates, financial institutions, government and industry organisations leverage their legal data, whether structured or unstructured - with game-changing results.

As a modular platform answering specific client needs, we create bespoke solutions and industry-wide products. We have already built solutions for financial, regulatory and lending markets including automated legal logic, data extraction, and automated document production. Ours is an 'always learning' approach that blends best-in-class techniques, including natural language processing.

For instance, this allows us to go beyond the limits of current AI technologies, to deploy a much wider range of available technology to automate legal logic for contract creation, negotiation and classification simultaneously. This approach yields enormous time and cost savings, and allows clients to leverage their legal data more effectively for better risk management and faster decision making.

This approach underlies our collaboration with ISDA, the ISDA Create platform, which automates the creation and negotiation of Initial Margin documentation; and to our FT-award winning LinkRFI product, which helps ring-fenced UK banks with compliance.

Edward Chan and Partha Mudgil talk about how Linklaters nakhoda was formed to fill a gap in the market by solving legal problems using smart technological solutions. These solutions help clients make sense of complex legal data to give them greater control over legal risks and decision making, helping to generate value for the wider business.
